Objective

What Certified Locksmiths & Security stands for

Certified Locksmiths & Security's Objective

Our objective is to provide the public with an awareness of the best locksmiths and safe engineers in the country and to create a platform for them to search easily and quickly to get the right locksmith or security specialist in their local area.

To protect the consumer from the dangers of an unregulated industry that has a number of companies exploiting customers when they are at their most vulnerable. We will provide a network of competent, honest, and reliable locksmiths, safe engineers, and security installers.

Certification is only possible with the endorsement of no less than two trusted individuals from this industry and a robust vetting process will be adhered to, ensuring customer satisfaction standards are met.

A minimum trading period is required to ensure high levels of skill, knowledge and experience.

Our aim is to minimise the risk to customers when looking for a locksmith, safe engineer, or security installer.

Supporting Local

We don’t support national locksmith companies or franchises in order to create a balance of opportunity for small and medium-sized independent locksmith companies.

Protecting You

Not supporting national locksmith companies will ensure we don’t support those who are known to quote below market prices but overcharge vulnerable customers, known in the industry as the 49rs.

The Right Job

Supporting local, competent and reliable locksmiths, approved by us and other rated locksmiths is the best way to protect our customers.

Stress-Free Experience

From Start to Finish

We intend to minimise the risk to customers when looking for a locksmith, safe engineer or security installer.

Minimum Standards

Minimum standards are set to protect the consumer, the CLS and will ultimately protect the companies who are certified.

Certified Locksmiths & Security's Minimum Standards

1. All certified companies must employ qualified and skilled locksmiths, safe engineers or installers for the services they offer.

2. Appropriate insurances must cover the certified companies, this includes but is not limited to Public liability, Employers liability, Electrical, Hot works and Working at height where applicable.

3. All certified companies will use non-destructive methods. Although drilling is required in many situations, and to drill effectively is still very skilled, certified locksmiths must ensure when drilling they use the smallest possible drills required for the task, and that drilling or other methods of manipulation do not affect the aesthetics and most importantly, the compliance or certification of the door being worked on.

4. All certified companies must use correct parts when replacing failed components to ensure all work does not compromise the security or certification of the door or safe being repaired or upgraded.

5. Certified companies must give clear direction on costs for proposed solutions as early as practicable. This should also be in writing either as a hard copy or electronic to give a clear audit trail that due diligence has taken place.

6. Certified companies must only conduct work that is genuinely required and will ensure they disclose any information required by law to disclose.

7. Certified companies are to ensure they maintain a working knowledge of building and fire regulations relevant to the tasks they undertake.

8. Certified companies must conduct robust due diligence when issuing or managing restricted profile and other high security keys both physical and electronic.

9. Certified companies must have appropriate Health and Safety policies required for the size of company and services provided.

10. All companies certified must display a privacy policy on their website and protect personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
